Starting Point #14: Intellectual Activity Readiness Questionnaire- IAR-Q

Intellectual Activity Readiness Questionnaire- IAR-Q

This questionnaire is one of the first steps to take when you are planning to evaluate your immediate goals and long-range strategy for assessing or improving your intellectual wellness. The IAR-Q will help you decide whether or not you may need to seek outside support from your educational counselor or other agency to begin the sometimes life changing process of improving your intellectual wellness. Having other professionals involved in your intellectual improvement plan is a good idea, as they can help you with the change process.

Please read the questions carefully and check YES or NO opposite the question if it applies to you. If yes, please explain.

If you answered NO to all of the questions above, it gives a general indication that your intellectual wellness is stable and growing! You may now wish to keep a journal of your intellectual wellness. This journal can act as a teaching tool for others who may need your help in this area. If you answered Yes to any of the above questions, then you should evaluate the issue and develop a plan for improvement in this area. Seek outside support as often as needed, and remember that change can be difficult if it occurs in isolation or without a network of support from friends or family.

The purpose of this survey is to begin your journey toward self-assessment concerning your optimal well-being. After taking this brief survey and adding your scores together, take a moment and reflect on your intellectual wellness. You will find that if your overall confidence score was high you will have a better chance to stay self-motivated and focused on your intellectual wellness. If your intellectual confidence number was low then you may benefit from strategies that help with your personal intellectual management.
