It is a good idea to cool down after your 5k run/walk by walking or slowly jogging in place for 5-10 minutes. Gentle stretching is also recommended as an aftercare approach from a strenuous activity. Talk about proper hydration with your physician or dietician, and reduce alcohol intake before and for several days after the race. Avoid fatty foods, and avoid splurging on taste treats, instead try to stay the course and reward yourself with a healthy diet. Finally, don’t quit, continue to set goals to maintain or improve your overall fitness level.
