Here is our Brain Teaser for the week: Take the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the 's' from 'Boast' to 'Hip' creating two synonyms: Boat - Ship. The letter can be taken from either the first or second word. I have included hints this time! This week, Debra Stewart submitted research for us to look at titled “Negative Effects of Item Repetition”. From Debra: “Attention-likelihood theory assumes that different classes of stimuli, such as words that are high versus low in frequency within the English language, evoke differential amounts of attention at encoding, which translates into differences in the number of features that are examined and marked.”
