Scientists are now researching how the symptoms of aging forms of Adult Attention Deficit Disorder (AADD) and Adult Attention Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can be distinguished from the early stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Symptoms such as memory loss, distractibility, disorganization, and poor task orientation can be assigned to both diagnostic categories, but the treatment plans are different. According to the Mayo Clinic (2012) it is important to receive a correct diagnosis so that the treatment and therapy can be specific, which can improve functioning and quality of life for those adults with aging forms of attention deficit disorder.
