When she went to visit the empty tomb, Mary Magdalene became the first of the disciples to see the risen Lord. Yet there must have been something different about his appearance because, until he spoke, she mistook him for the gardener! In your daily life you, too, might often assume that wise or holy people are only found on altars, podiums, or other elevated and prominent places. But do not overlook the gardener, the auto mechanic, the store clerk you encounter today. Wisdom and holiness are found in some unexpected places, but you have to take the time to see beneath the surface. Slow down in this Easter season and really look and listen. You will find the risen Lord in your midst!
