Under the direction of an exceptional management team at St. Leonard, a unique partnership was formed to create a beta community with Bill Witte CEO and the Vital Life Community. This partnership inspired teams where the residents and staff at St. Leonard, seeking optimal health and well-being through socialization, worked together to produce self-assessment, measurement, and feedback programs. Through careful programming and building on an environment of trust and celebration for stellar health, this management team launched a program with the Vital Life Community that engaged the community in all of the spectrums of life and wellness, and, thereby, wholistically embraced human socialization.
St. Leonard, an existing active community, became a top performer for getting residents and employees organized into wellness teams. These wellness teams are growing in self-actualization and self-motivation giving each team a culture that fosters clarity, confidence, and commitment to wellness.

St. Leonard has developed a 10-year strategy for optimal
well-being for the members of the developing wellness teams on campus. Models for self-assessment have been developed as well as starting points for wellness on a level that is person-centered and developmentally appropriate, to help members overcome personal motivation and coaching issues. Currently, there are over 25 teams reporting their monthly programming and measurement of member satisfaction. The satisfaction score for St. Leonard is currently 85% and spans over 800 programs with a combined attendance of over 9,000. In addition, a social walking program is in place that allows for adaptation for walking at every level of care. To date, over 300 members have walked to preset destinations and have logged in thousands of miles.
St. Leonard's ten year, Vital Life Community goals are developed and are performed in a celebratory atmosphere. We will now and in the future embrace all of the opportunities that a healthy community has to offer. Wellness is exciting!
