Team Franciscan Center: Put Down that Remote!

Dr. Jack Harless

Manager of The Franciscan Center

One of our major goals at The Franciscan Center is getting people active and moving while having fun in a socially stimulating & rewarding environment. Moving with friends is not only fun, however, but vital to our well -being, and, as a recent review of studies has shown, can reduce our risk for developing disease states.

In a 2011 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association entitled, Television viewing & risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, & all-cause mortality; a meta-analysis 1., those studied who watched 2 hours of TV or more had a 20% greater risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, a 15% greater risk of Cardiovascular disease, and a 13% increased risk for All-cause mortality.

If that’s not motivation enough to put down the remote and get active I don’t know what is?! When you combine industry leading exercise forms with our Vital Life concepts of socialization and fun, you really have an unstoppable force for change and transformation. If you’re looking for a reason to get motivated to start being well, let this study be a reminder to you of the potential risks of a sedentary lifestyle. If you are looking for a place to be a better you, look no further than The Franciscan Center!
