Sisters Pat and Christine took a one-day trip to the quaint village of Metamora, Indiana. One of the most interesting moments of that day was the ride on the horse-drawn canal boat, the Ben Franklin III. This cruised under the nation's only covered bridge aqueduct. When the era of canal transportation ended, the Whitewater Canal became a source of water power for many mills, including the Metamora Mill. This mill still operates, producing corn meal and grits as it did a century ago |
